This season designers have been embracing the culotte shorts, which are a longer short/short pant. Designers from the likes of Alexander Wang, Max Mara and MSGM, have all incorporated the culotte shorts into their collections. The culotte shorts feature very neutral and basic colours, such as black, beige and tans, this helps keep the focus of the short on the tailoring which is a major element of this style. The tailoring is incredibly crisp and sharp, which makes these pieces classic and timeless. Textures and patterns are kept minimal with these shorts, with designers sometimes opting for a very thin pinstripe or pattern, to add an element of dimension to the short. Designers such as Alexander Wang and Max Mara paired the shorts with long blazers or over-sized coats, keeping with their own 'feel' of their label, but also adding to the shorts by emphasizing their 'corporate' and 'androgynous' look. The androgynous look is a major trend for this season, with many major women's wear labels choosing cuts and colours which are predominantly male. This look can however look very chic, sharp and expensive, which is exactly what these shorts achieves. The shorts are perfect for business wear or can be dressed down with tops, shirts and coats, which is why I believe that they will be a major trend this year! By the way, how amazing is the Max Mara look, so obsessed! I will be your best friend forever if someone wants to buy me the entire outfit ;)
